My teacher at school showed me how to make a shake similar to this. I doctored it up with some of my favorite spices and it turned out wonderful. One of the perks of going to Ayurveda School is having access to the faculties recipes! In the past year I have entered into a new realm of cooking. The ingredients I use now are mostly sattvic, which means pure, holy, and soothing. This recipe offers wonderful nourishment and is cooling for the digestive system.
In Ayurveda there is a term called Ojas. The ojas is vitality, consciousness and immunity. It is the basis for physical and mental endurance, the internalized essence of digested food, water, air, and thought. Ojas is responsible for grounding ones soul and making a platform for growth. By choosing blissful ojas foods like dates, you can create that sparkle in your eyes and have a glowing face. It is good to restore your ojas by eating foods like; milk, ghee, whole grains, fresh organic vegetables and sweet fruits. It is important to build our ojas to handle stress and help low immune conditions. Last but not least, Ojas provides emotional peace, calm, and contentment. Without these emotional forces, the mind becomes unstable.
I’m excited to bring this drink into the yoga studio tomorrow so everyone can try it after they practice. Luscious drinks should be shared:) I’ll be at Prana Yoga Center in La Jolla from 8-12 if you want to try it!
