Do you have good friends? I hope you do. I made this wonderful soup for one of my dearest friends, Nadia. She deserves some healing food for her soul because she’s a great friend. It makes me happy to cook for friends. In fact, cooking for others is one of the reasons I’m on this planet. What better gift to provide a nourishing meal to your loved ones. I’ll probably be one of those Mums who spends hours mashing up baby food and rubbing turmeric on my child’s skin. Don’t worry, I’ll blog all about it:)
Spring is Kapha season. Spring is known to be wet, moist, and heavy as the plants begin to bloom and warmth comes our way. Kapha individuals are usually grounded, earthy, loving, and peaceful when in balance. During the spring season Kaphas can easily be imbalanced causing issues like: laziness, weight gain, congestion, and fatigue. To reduce these problems, Kaphas should focus on eating: bitter, pungent, and astringent foods to clear congestion, dampness, heaviness, and boost energy.
Dahl is a traditional Indian dish that will pacify an aggravated Kapha with its stimulating ingredients. Kaphas need energetic spices to boost the metabolism and fire up the digestive system. Red Lentil Dahl is an excellent light and cleansing dish. Since I have current a Kapha imbalance, I use onions and garlic for cleansing purposes and it is exciting to use these foods because they add amazing flavor. I watch peoples’ hearts break when I tell them that onions and garlic are used for medicinal purposely only. This is a great opportunity to use onions and garlic in order to cleanse and burn up excess dampness. It’s a flippin fantastic recipe as well. It blew Nadia’s socks off.

I’ve been running twice a week and practicing lots of yoga. It’s making me feel “real” good. I decided after my 10 days of silence that working out with weights in the gym was not a peaceful way for me to move. I felt like a robot and a sweat monster with my headphones in. I was craving meat and feeling sore. Nature has given us a beautiful place to be active and crave a plant based diet. What are you favorite forms of outdoor movement and how do you eat according to your physical activity?
Have a beautiful week love bugs and happy eating!
