About The Event
Join Chef Johnny for the Taste of Transcendence. The Art of Ayurvedic cooking brings together the techniques of consciousness, expansion, and the healing application of plants, herbs, and food. Ayurveda is established as a natural system of healing wisdom, with the emphasis on prevention and preservation of health. It originated 5000 years ago in India. Ayurvedic principles and foods work with the body’s innate intelligence in order to promote natural self-healing. Ayurvedic diets are customized depending on a persons specific body type (or “constitution”), called a dosha.
In this workshop you will learn:
- Basic Ayurvedic philosophy and principles.
- Overview of origins of Ayurveda and healing potential of the different aspects with practical techniques.
- Discover body types and the 3 doshas with relation to nutrition with examples of foods which balance/aggravate your body type (dosha).
- Discover the 6 tastes inherent in all food.
- Observe Ayurvedic organic vegan cooking class demo style.
- Learn the healing powers of spices and herbs and how to use them
-Enjoy delicious Six Tastes lunch
This class will help you better understand your body type and naturally make mindful eating choices for optimal nourishment and well being. Whether new to Ayurveda or growing expert, Chef Johnny will inspire you to see and feel the profundity of this wisdom and taste it too.
The second part of this class is the "The Inner Sound Illumination Technique Meditation"
This technique is taught by Johnny almost exclusively and was originally received from Babaji himself through Ashok Kumara, a renowned teacher of music from India. The technique is taught in about 45 mins. It is fun to do and brings many benefits including an increase in frequency in the body resulting in more refined awareness and joy. It offers very deep states of relaxation and rest and therefore; a release of stress and fatigue. It is rejuvenating on a deep level. It involves the chanting of single syllable seed sounds or mantras along with simple visual images for each chakra. It also employs laughter to increase dopamine in the brain and breathing techniques for deeper relaxation and experiences of pure consciousness. Anyone can practice this technique on their own once they have been trained. It is said to cleanse the chakras and energetic system as a whole.
You will receive the instruction of this unique ISIT meditation including hand out with illustrations to take home.
